Martha Marie Preston Executive Director and FounderMARTHA MARIE PRESTON - Founder and Executive Director
A native Texan who rose from her humble beginning in Royal Terrace, a rural sub-division in Houston, to become a successful entrepreneur and distinguished Ardyss International Platinum President, Martha Marie Preston moved to inner city Houston as a teenager.

The seventh of twelve children, she has devoted her life to helping others and supporting Houston’s community organizations. An overcomer who, after spending ten years in federal prison, founded Elite Ladies of Expression, Inc. a non-profit organization in Houston that provides assistance to at-risk youth, incarcerated and recently released females, individuals with mental and physical health problem, and the homeless.

Her electrifying personality has aided her in becoming one of the most successful and recognized citizens in Houston.
Shenette Seals - Vincent, Board of Directors MemberSHENETTE VINCENT - Assistant
A native Houstonian, Shenette attended Texas Southern University where she majored in Computer Science. She is an Administrative Supervisor to the Director for the Houston Department of Health and Human Services (HDHHS) where she manages the day to day operations within the Director’s Office. She joined the city in July, 1990, and has supported over three directors as an executive assistant during her tenure. Her excellent organizational skills are highlighted when she coordinates event planning activities such as Rebuilding Together Houston Project, City of Houston Combined Municipal Campaign, HDHHS Employee Annual Recognition Ceremony, City of Houston Annual Administrative Professionals Conference, and cultural events. She is well-known and respected throughout her organization as the “go to” person with a willing spirit of making things happen.

Prior to her employment at the city, Shenette worked for Harris County Children’s Protective Services as a social service technician I/unit secretary for six years. She has over twenty-five years in the field of administration. She currently serves as President of the City of Houston Chapter International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP®), past vice-president (2007-2009), and a member of the National Forum of Black Public Administrators (2006). Dorrise Jenkins, DirectorDORRISE JENKINS - Director
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dorrise was her mother’s, Walter Marie Lindsey, only child and her father’s, Joseph Stephenson, 21st child. She was raised by her grandparents Walter and Nettie Lindsey in Keithville, Louisiana, and is a product of the Louisiana public school system.

Married to Ronald Jenkins for 31 years, she is the proud mother of four children, twenty grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Upon completion of Para-Legal School, she became the first African American female named by American National Association to own a repossession company in Houston, Texas. Her company was so successful that she opened La’Rues Boutique, to serve the upscale apparel needs of women in the community.

Dorrise is a modern day Civil Rights Activist and a champion for the legal rights of all races of people. When asked what inspired her to be a champion for the rights of people, Dorrise replied, “My uncle, Chad Washington, who marched with the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was my inspiration to fight for the people.” Dorrise serves as the lead Para-Legal and Investigator for Long Law Firm in Houston, Texas, with integrity and pride. Her position affords her the opportunity to be an outspoken advocate for “justice for all” in many civil and criminal legal proceedings.
Gloria RuffinGLORIA RUFFIN - Assistant
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, Gloria is a product of Louisiana’s public school system where she was an excellent student and actively participated in sports, music and cheerleading. She was employed for twenty-six years as the Supervisor/Manager over Mailroom(s) at Account Management Collection Agency and C.S.C. Credit Service. For the past 9 years, she has served as the Administrative Assistant at Brentwood Baptist Church for Rev. Carolyn Clay-Pickens, Rev. Kevin W. Williams, and Rev. Lillie M. Seals. Gloria has a deep commitment to the Ministries she belongs to which include: Criminal Justice Ministry, Back 2 School Shopping, Christmas-Angel Tree, Guardian Angels and Boot Camp (Youth-boys), Kids Hope USA, Fig Leaves Clothing Store, Women’s Conference, Children’s Church, Jewels of Brentwood, L.O.V.E. Ministry, Women’s Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, New Members Orientation, Female Awareness Ministry, Food Pantry, Media-Audio & Video, Brentwood Technology, Brentwood Development Ministry and off campus organizations, Elite Ladies of Expression, Inc., Ardyss International, and Order of Easter Star.

For the past fifteen plus years she has considered it a great blessing to serve as a guardian for inmates families by caring for the children of inmates and allowing their caregivers time off for themselves. Attorney Tara N. Long is currently Senior Partner at Long Law Firm and Adjunct Professor at Thurgood Marshall School of Law for Legal Research. She is a former Assistant City Attorney that worked in conjunction with Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department and Houston Neighborhood Protection Corp as an F.A.S.T. Unit Team Member.

Attorney Long is a proud graduate of Thurgood where she obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2000. Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and the United States Federal Southern District of Texas for 10 years, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rice University in 1997 and has primarily practiced Civil and Criminal Defense Litigation.

She was born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi and started her firm in 2009 with her father, Col. Thomas J. Long, a retired Army Colonel with 40 years as a practicing attorney. The Long Family has called Houston home for over twenty years and has a commitment to serving their community.

An alumna of the University of Houston with a B.A. Degree in Accountancy and the University of Texas-McCombs School of Business with a B.B.A., Jacquelyn has over 25 years of experience in the private and nonprofit sectors. She builds relationships, trust, and rapport with almost anyone. She brokers relationships, makes connections between people, creates partnerships and alliances, and motivates forward momentum to ‘get things done.’ Jacquelyn Mathews is the type of person who ‘gets things done’ and drives results —through collaboration, partnerships, and relationships—as a Business leader in the Non-Profit industry.She is uniquely qualified in all areas of Business Management with direct responsibilities for Business Start-up and Structural Development, Organizational and Change Management, Proposal Implementation, Contract Compliance Financial Management, Cost Control and Special Fundraising Projects for Non-Profit Groups.

Jacquelyn has served on boards and committees of numerous organizations and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Elite Ladies of Expression, Inc. Her other memberships include: Elite Ladies of Distinction, Texas Association Non-Profit Organizations, American Grant Writers Association, The American Small Business Coalition, Society of Human Resource Management, Texas State Human Resource Association, Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council, and Interior Design Society.
Carolyn Johnson, Vice PresidentCAROLYN JOHNSON - Vice President
Carolyn, is a product of the Clarksville, Tennesee, public school system.  She holds the distinction of playing basketball as a point guard under the leadership of Olympic Medalist, Wilma Rudolph.  A graduate of Franklin Beauty College in Houston, Texas, she is a licensed cosmetologist with a thriving clientele.  Carolyn is the owner and operator of C. T. & C. Hair Care Solon.  A member of Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, she enjoys organizing events and helping others.  She received the Black Heritage Award in 1996.  In 2002 she was recognized as Beautician of the Year by City Wide Beauticians and was honored from 2005 – 2007 by the Cullen Missionary Baptist Church Chapter of Girls Rite of Passage.

Georgia Daniels, Assistant TreasurerGEORGIA DANIELS - Treasurer
A master of her craft, Georgia received her cosmetology license in 1980 and has been a stylist for over 30 years. She specializes in precision cutting and with her artistic vision and impeccable attention to detail and keeps up with the latest techniques/hair trends. Georgia enjoys working with clients to come up with styles individualized to their needs. She owned and managed BP de Salon in Southeast Houston for over eighteen years before closing in 2007 and is currently employed by Everlasting Beauty Salon in Houston, Texas and Walmart.

Georgia enjoys shopping, interior designing and fashion. She is an active member of Lyons Unity Missionary Baptist Church, President of the Witnessing Sunday School Class, and has served as chair of the Pastor and Wife Anniversary Committee. She loves hosting family gatherings and spending quality time with her family.
