THE PEOPLES COALITION - HOMELESS REFERRAL PROGRAMS
Homeless Referral Program Symbol

Homeless Referral Programs Shelter is a basic need for human life that many individuals in the greater Houston area live without. There is growing anxiety about how to house the large number of ex-offenders being released from state and federal prison each year. Many of these individuals experience rejection from families and friends, refusal by private landlords, intensive screening, and eviction from public housing.

The Peoples Coalition provides participants with homeless information services and referrals that connect participants to local resources along with counseling, and other support services. Our agency forms a partnership with existing homeless programs in the greater Houston area for the purpose of obtaining emergency, short term/long-term transitional and/or permanent housing. The target population for our homeless programs includes both female and male participants.

Operating on the fact that many individuals are one paycheck from being homeless, the goal of our program is to refer low income and indigent families/individuals to community agencies that provides placement in a safe and sanitary living environment. Support services provided by The Peoples Coalition for participants include:

  • Education and Training Assistance
  • Computer Training
  • Career Development
  • Personal Development
  • Counseling (Individual and Group)
  • Health (Mental and Physical) Referrals
  • Anger Management Classes
  • Parent and Family Reunification Classes
